Daily Winwood

It's good to be back to my normal, hope-less self. Welcome back.

I was pondering a childhood memory the other day. I could have swore that in the Steve Winwood video for "Valerie," at one of the later iterations of the chorus Steve struck kind of a rock em' sock em' robots pose with both his arms. Hillary thought it was like this as well. But when we YouTube'd the video, there was nary a robot pose in the entire thing. In fact the whole affair is just tremendously boring, with Steve standing around while a girl who looks like Mallory from Family Ties spins around in the background.

My memory is starting to slip. Soon I will forget who I am. In case I forget all of you, know that you are in my heart. Goodbye.

I laughed all the way through this video for two reasons. First, I was still anticipating a rockem sockem robot pose. How did we both fabricate this fake move and keep it as a false memory for years? Second, he looks like Conan O'Brien in this when Conan isn't wearing makeup! Only this time, Steve is sporting the bigger afro, which by the way is being blown back by a fan on super high power.

Also, when he really gets into the chorus, he stars snapping somewhat vigorously.

I guess that makes three things that kept me laughing. However, I was mostly laughing at our dual, false memory. Maybe it's because he wasn't one of our music staples in 1986 so we are clouded with elusive thoughts of what might've been. This reminds me of your imaginary Depeche Mode video you had created in your mind for "Personal Jesus" where you swore Martin and Dave were spinning in a room. The actual video was them hanging out in the desert with some hot chicks and Martin riding a child size rocking horse at one point.

I have more ideas of 80s videos you can review. Remind me to tell you.

Maybe this post will get me out of the dog house with H and C. You are correct about the rockem sockem robot pose, just the wrong video. It's Higher Love and it drives me nuts. I always wanted to grab Winwood by the arms and pull them out to normal length. Not a Manly pose at all. I think girls are twirling around in all his videos. The wind fans and spinning were big in the 80's....

Ah the days of pure, unadulterated MTV. I laughed all the way through it too. Kevan why were you in the dog house again?

Too many contraversial posts with too many folks agreeing with me equals dog house. Parents are to be seen not heard.

Don't listen to him Shannon. He's just flat out making up things at this point. Not once did we accuse him of starting thread fights. He wants to paint us as evil children because we are so flawlessly perfect and he can't find anything for which to fault us.

I don't know who to believe!

Believe the children that don't lie.

Shannon...you don't know who to believe? Who lives closer to you, Hillary or me and can drop what we're doing to bring you a nice cold Frosty on a hot summer day?

The kids have always been jealous of me when in fact, I readily admit their intelligence and keen sense of humor? Do they remind any of my sisters out there of their 2nd oldest brother?

I say, "They spitteth in the well that giveth them drink".

Kevan, they'll be sorry when you're gone. Just wait and see.
